Murder Goes Flying
None of this would have happened if Chase hadn't taken up flying
~ Piper Haydn, Murder Goes Flying
None of this would have happened if Piper -- well, there seems to be no escaping a mystery for Piper. Piper was right, though -- none of this would have happened if her brother had just listened to her.
There she is, minding her own business, preparing her students for a concert when murder shows up on her front porch.
If it isn't a body in her Steinway, an attempted murder while glamping, or a beheading in her storeroom, it's a nefarious character causing plane trouble.
Once again, Piper with her classic wardrobe, and Rosie, her funky fashionista friend, cull through the clues and puzzle out unexpected solutions.
If you're a fan of Wisconsin, small towns, music, piano, John Phillips Sousa, mystery, family, sleuthing, coffee, pastries, reading, stories, and friends, the fourth installment of the Piper Haydn Murder Mystery Series has got you covered.

She'd rather conduct a symphony than investigate sabotage. But when family loyalty takes flight, can she ground a killer before they strike again?
Piper Haydn prefers her drama on the concert stage, not in real life. The refined music academy owner has sworn off mysteries after one too many deadly encounters in her charming Wisconsin town. But when her reckless brother buys a vintage warplane and invites their cousins to make it airworthy, her worries reach a dangerous pitch.
When the test flight ends in disaster and evidence points to deliberate sabotage, Piper's carefully ordered world shatters. Now she must dust off her sleuthing skills to protect her family—even if that means confronting secrets she never wanted to uncover.
With federal agents circling, family members acting suspiciously, and a high-stakes aviation contest worth killing for, Piper fears her amateur investigation could lead to a fatal finale.
Can Piper uncover the truth before the real killer vanishes into the wild blue yonder?
Murder Goes Flying is the fourth book in the Piper Haydn Piano Mysteries cozy mystery series. If you like small-town charm, aviation intrigue, and heartwarming friendships, then you'll love Malissa Chapin's high-flying whodunit.

My Thoughts
The long-awaited fourth mystery in the Piper Haydn Piano Mystery series is here. Each book is a stand-alone book, but many of the characters appear in each book, and references to events in other books in the series are explained.
It's been fun getting to know Piper, Rosie, and the people in their community. In the fourth book of the series, you get to know some of the other women in town a little better, and it makes Cranberry Harbor feel like a small town you'd like to explore. I enjoyed seeing my hometown and the Oshkosh airshow appear in a Piper Haydn Piano Mystery, too!
I didn't ferret out "who done it" immediately. I had to follow along as Rosie and Piper recorded clues in their notebook and tore around town questioning unsuspecting acquaintances, and generally getting themselves into tight spaces, so I could learn how the clues worked together to reveal the killer.
There's also a little bit of a cliffhanger at the end -- now that she knows the truth, will Piper work things out?
