About the Book

Book:  Truly Known

Author: Jayne Martin Patton

Genre:  Christian Nonfiction/Christian living

Release Date: March 9, 2020

Knowing God—really knowing God—often seems like an impossible endeavor, especially when we hardly know ourselves. Jayne Patton saw that truth firsthand after ministering to women at a maximum-security prison. And soon she realized that women everywhere—even sitting in the church pew next to her—were living in emotional, spiritual, and mental prisons within their own hearts and minds.

Truly Known invites women of all ages and stages to discover the life-altering freedom that God richly provides them, so that they no longer have to live within their own prisons but can be transformed in the presence of Jesus. Readers will be asking “So now what?” as they are empowered to snatch each moment and each day that God gives them to make a difference in the lives of others.

All proceeds from Truly Known will be donated to Samuel’s House, an orphanage in Venezuela that seeks to feed, shelter, educate, and evangelize children, bringing life to their souls.

My Thoughts:
I sat in my chair in the infusion clinic, needle in my arm, IV pouring drugs and saline into my vein & opened Jayne Martin Patton's Truly Known
My first thought as I began reading the introduction to Truly Known (yes, I read introductions because I think introductions are interesting), was "Jayne is going to share at the point where life runs into the grace of God."
Then, I began to read & I found myself in these pages. I could identify with these women. Their pain is my pain. The passages of grace & hope soothed my own grief as I sat there, tears streaming down my face, thanking God for the simple truths of Scripture that Jayne Martin Patton has shared & the questions she asks. Where is your faith? What are you filling your mind with? How will you let the love of Jesus help you love others well?

I highly recommend this devotional to women who need hope, who work with women who need hope, who need a reminder that our life is about God's grace, not the tasks before us each day.
The thoughts, applications, and questions remind me of the book Running on Empty by Jill Briscoe.
